Learn how to calculate your rider category using your FTP and weight
I had a hard time figuring out my rider category or as others call it “rider classification” in Zwift. Now that I know the calculation, I wanted to share it on the cycling interwebs with my fellow riders.
Zwift Rider Category Formula
FTP ÷ Weight (in KG) = Rider Category
First you will need to know your FTP. If you don’t know your FTP or how to find it, I wrote a quick tutorial called How to View Your FTP on Zwift.
Using my data as an example:
FTP = 234
Weight = 185lbs (converted to Kg = 83.9146)
Grab your smartphone and open your calculator. Enter 234 ÷ 84 = 2.78
My rider category is “C”.
