After an easy week I'm ramping back up to prepare for my first century.
Week #14 Highlights
- The rain continues to fall so I had to ride indoors twice this week
- On Saturday my buddy Zaccone came along for the ride
- I shot my first video with the Garmin Virb (battery life sucks!)
Rain, Rain, Go Away
Another week has passed in which the rain keeps coming. It finally ended for the most part on Saturday (got caught in a rain shower) which I believe they said was 11 days of rain in a row. Scratch that, it’s raining as I write this and is supposed to rain for 2 more days. It appears that the rain will end just in time for the Cap2Cap Century Ride! That’s good news if it’s true.
In preparation of my trip to Europe I figured an essential gadget to bring would be an action camera. Since I’m a fan of all things Garmin I decided to purchase the Garmin Virb XE. I will eventually write a product review of the Garmin Virb XE, but for now it’s safe to say I’m moderately happy with the results of the camera. One thing for sure is that the battery life of the Virb totally sucks. More to come.
For the first time in over 6 weeks I finally had a riding partner on Saturday’s long ride. John Zaccone joined me for the 67 mile ride on the Virginia Capital Trail. It’s my last long ride before my Cap2Cap Century Ride. John is getting ready for a century ride in New York.

Virb Cycling Video
Here is my first attempt at a cycling video shot with my Garmin Virb XE. I call it chasing rabbits. As you can tell, I have a long way to go before creating something amazing.
