Week #10 Highlights
- Even with my biggest week ever, the infamous shadow of doubt has entered my conscious.
- Our cycling kits have been confirmed. Check out the photo above. Nice!
- I love FRIDAYs. It’s my only day off going forward.
- I hate W-I-N-D! Unless it’s at my back!
Your mind can certainly play tricks on you; especially when you’re biking alone and the wind is blowing at over 20 miles per hour. Not since week #2 of my training for the 2016 Allianz cycling tour have I witnessed such high winds. It was so bad that twice I almost got blown off my bike and once while in-taking my BASE Salt the wind blew half my salt right out of the bottle.
I speculate that because of the cold winds and high winds most people stayed home. After getting a mile outside of Richmond I only saw two other bikers. I managed to ride with one of those riders at about 12 miles from Jamestown. I forget his name but he said he was training for a 100 mile MTB race otherwise there was no way he would be out riding in these winds! Same here buddy; if I wasn’t in-training there is no way I would be out here riding.
With all the miles ridden and the high winds over the weekend my mind is starting to tell me that I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. My feet keep going numb on my long rides and I’ve tried 3 pairs of shoes, 3 saddles and a professional bike fitting. What the hell? What am I doing wrong? How am I going to make it 8 days in a row spending 6+ hours a day in the saddle?
This past week was my first week where I train 6 days a week. I just checked my training for the upcoming week and it’s another week where I have 6 days of training and a 4 hour ride on Saturday. I guess if this was easy it wouldn’t be such a big deal…
My Weekday Rides
Twice this week I rode my Cervelo S2 on the indoor trainer due to rain.
